Why did you choose Avalanche+®?
Arie van den Berg: “The first time we saw the rose in the breeder’s greenhouse, we were instantly smitten. I will never forget the moment: my father and I were drawn to this white beauty immediately. That was in 2001. We started working with it straight away. That makes us the grower who has been cultivating Avalanche+® the longest.”

What do you think when you step into the greenhouse in the morning?
“The beautiful expanse of flowers and the fragrance of strong, healthy plants always makes a good start of the day. I really enjoy this work.”

Who did you last cut Avalanche+® roses for yourself?
“For my wife. We got married in 2016, and naturally we chose Avalanche+® for our wedding. It looked magnificent. We still enjoy looking at the pictures.”

How do you most enjoy seeing your roses used?
“The highlight of Avalanche+® was to see the roses all over the royal wedding of then Crown Prince Willem-Alexander to Máxima Zorreguieta. Avalanche+® was chosen again for his inauguration as King of the Netherlands. That makes you really proud as a grower.”

What is your best Avalanche+® moment?
“For me it was the first greenhouse with Peach Avalanche+®. We found this mutation, and we have the exclusive right to it for the Dutch market. It really is our baby and very successful. I’m very proud of that.”
