Why did you choose Avalanche+®?
Marc Koene: “My dad Sjaak, my brothers Bas and Tom and I were immediately hooked when we saw Avalanche+® in the breeder’s greenhouse. It’s a stunning rose: a tall, full bud and a sturdy stem. As growers we aim for quality. We really want to be able to deliver something special, Avalanche+® allows us to do so. This rose has already won many prizes.”

What do you think when you step into the greenhouse in the morning?
“We grow white Avalanche+® roses and those big buds offer a fabulous sight. Instant happiness when I see that. It is always impressive to see such opulence in bloom, thanks to our efforts and knowledge.”

Who did you last cut Avalanche+® roses for yourself?
“We are a real family firm, so we like to surprise our wives, sisters, mothers and mothers-in-law. Lovely new babies Koene are also always photographed in the greenhouse. Avalanche+® is part of our life in every way.”

How do you most enjoy seeing your roses used?
“It is always nice to see them at a glamourous event or a celebrity wedding but I’m equally proud when I hear florists say that they have ordered our roses especially and work with Avalanche+® a lot. The aim of this job is to produce something beautiful that gives other people pleasure. It’s nice when that’s appreciated.”

What is your best Avalanche+® moment?
"The celebrity wedding of Wesley Sneijder and Yolanthe Cabau van Kasbergen. We were able to provide all the Avalanche+® roses for this beautiful ceremony. It resulted in quite a lot of publicity, the newspapers were full of it the next day. To look at the photos and see your own roses shine, that made me very proud.”
